Junior A Mountaineers

Awarded as an expansion franchise in 2006, the Junior A Mountaineers are the most recent addition to the Mountaineers namesake.

Playing in the JrA/SrB division of the Rocky Mountain Lacrosse League (RMLL), the Junior A Mountaineers face an interesting challenge that not many Junior aged players (17 - 21) from other parts of the country face, and that is playing against Senior-aged players in an interlocking schedule.

Although the RMLL has been around for some time now, it is still a relatively young league compared to leagues in British Columbia and Ontario. Therefore, as the Junior A division matures and becomes stronger, the Junior A clubs play against the older, more seasoned, Senior B clubs.

Although the Junior A Mountaineers are only moving into their second season, they have a experienced group of professionls on the management team and they are committed to building the club into one of the flagship Junior A organizations in all of Canada.

Junior B Mountaineers

The Junior B Mountaineers were established as a team in the late 90's, and quickly became one of the dominating forces in Junior B lacrosse in Alberta. This club has experienced consistent success on the floor, including a Provincial Championships in 2000 and 2004.

Made up of mostly first year Junior players in 2006 (i.e. graduating midgets), the Junior B Mountaineers were looking at undergoing some rebuilding. However, as the 06' season went on they found themselves extremely competitive and ahead of the curve with the rebuilding process.

2007 looks to be another strong year for the club as they will once again be guided by Head Coach Wayne Sutherland and his crew of talented assistant coaches.

Senior B Mountaineers

The Senior B Mountaineers are the old guys of the group. This club has been around for over three decades and has been the flagship Senior B club for much of that time.

Currently, the Senior B Mountaineers are undergoing an extensive rebuilding process as many of the older players associated with the club retire or move on to other, less physically demanding, activities.

Having said that, the timing is perfect for the rebuilding process as the Senior division is heading into the most substantial Junior player draft in RMLL history. Each Senior club should enjoy a significant influx of young talent that is ready to make a contribution immediately.
